One nation One Card: When it comes to the Modi Govt, they always seem to have a surprise master plan for India. This time, it’s not demonetization but deals with a more precarious side of everyday life. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan announced that the Modi Sarkar is going to implement one nation one card for the entire country By 30th June 2020. The scheme will set its foot in the parliament. He was asked certain questions by the media about linking ration cards all over the country and in reply he mentioned the 2020 united scheme by the government.

20 States have accepted one nation one ration card scheme. Already Uttarakhand, Nagaland, and, Manipur has joined this scheme on 1st August 2020. Like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are going to join in this scheme.

There is some news that says states like Gujarat, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Tripura have all installed POS machines for grain public distribution centres (PDS). The beneficiaries will be able to take ration from any PDS in the state. Shri Paswan Ji also said that the scheme will be spread across the entire nation by the end of June 2020.

The ration card data from all over the country will directly be linked to one server. Moreover, ration cardholders can pick up grains and food items from any ration shop in any part of the country.
The aim to begin the scheme is to curtail corruption and the dependence of ration cardholders on one single shop. The beneficiaries must have the freedom to buy from any shop they can at their convenience, said Ram Vilas Paswan. The entire work will be undertaken by the Department of Food and Supply to usher benefits among a population of 81 crores, the government administration will offer 612 lakh tonnes of grains each year. All of it will be accumulated in the FCI (Food Corporation of India) and SWC warehouses.

Each and every state was given a year to fit in Point of sale machine in their ration shop. More than 77% of the ration shop has already set up the machines, and the majority of their ration cards are linked to their Aadhaar Card. Well, the linkage was done, keeping in mind the access to NFSA (National Food Security Act) benefits to the cardholders.

The Union Minister was pressing on the imperative that there must be a transparent flow of communication with the FCI and the allocated state-run ration shops. Therefore, there is a need to integrate both to churn out exact information and data from all over the country. He also laid the emphasis on the storage processing and all the data related to the entire procedure.
One of the chief announcements was regarding the issues catering to malnutrition. There will new laws by the central government called the ‘Pilot scheme’ for taking care of the Support of Rice and its Distribution under the PDS. The scheme was approved in the month of February 2019 and was allocated funds amounting to Rs Rs.147.61 crores. The entire scheme process has the government back funding and the ratio of northeastern, Island States, and hilly areas to the other parts of the country is 90:10 and 75:25 respectively.
